How often do we fail to do the things we really want because we just don’t have the time? We’re all so busy with work and family commitments – especially when our children are young and seem to need us constantly – that actually finding time to focus on ourselves seems like a luxury we simply cannot afford.
The truth is, though, we simply can’t afford NOT to.
Focusing on everything but ourselves can lead to feelings of anger, resentment, irritability and disappointment. This makes us less productive at work, and less effective at home.
As parents, we often fail to prioritise our own needs at least some of the time. But as the engine room of the family, it’s essential that we find the time to be our own beautiful selves without feeling guilty.
Dedicated “me time” helps prevent destructive feelings creeping in, and you’ll feel happier, refreshed and more beautiful. The psychological benefits you gain will ripple through to your loved ones too.
It’s Time To Find Time
Devoting an extra hour each week to being true to yourself is absolutely doable. It’s as easy as adding it to your “To Do” list. But instead of writing “Downtime,” try making it a definite activity: “Read two chapters of my book” or “Relax in a bubble bath,” for example.
Or try getting up an hour earlier every day. Use this “power hour” to exercise, meditate or do something creative.
No matter how busy your life may seem, you can and should always make time to be your best and most beautiful self.
